Installation Instructions for the CradleVue
Instructions for vehicles equipped with integrated headrests
Lay the CradleVue out flat and locate the oval-shaped VueGear.com logo(1). When installed, the logo will face toward the back seats.
Peel apart the two long hook-and-loop horizontal straps. Now attach the CradleVue strap extensions(2). To do this, find the end of the extension that has 3" of 'loop' fastener with the longer length of 'hook' fastener sewn adjacent to it. Attach the 3" of loop fastener on the extension to the last 3" of hook fastener on the CradleVue strap. The longer length of hook fastener on the extension will then fasten to the same length of loop fastener on the CradleVue strap(3). Do the same thing with the other extension, fastening it to the strap on the other side of the CradleVue.
Wrap the extensions around each of the two front seat headrests(3). Now, tighten the extensions and fasten the loop end of each extension around the hook end of each strap so that the CradleVue is stretched tight between the two headrests. Depending on the distance between the headrests, the loop portion of each extension may be slightly longer or shorter than the hook end of each strap. This is perfectly normal. The amount of hook and loop fastened together will be more than adequate to securely cradle your laptop.
Open your laptop computer all the way so that it would lay completely flat if set down(4). Insert the computer into the CradleVue. The bottom loops of the CradleVue should wrap around the bottom corners of the laptop(5).
Pull the shock cord over the top edge of the laptop. The cord should run along the laptop frame just above the top of the display screen. This cord can be adjusted up or down to accommodate different sized laptops. If you need to change the height for the shock cord, remove the laptop first. To change the height, remove the cord stops from the shock cord by squeezing the button on each cord stop and pulling the shock cord through the hole on the cord stop. Then pull the shock cord from the adjustable height loops on the front-seat-facing side of the CradleVue. Thread each end of the shock cord through the most appropriate loop(6). Reinsert the first cord stop and cinch it tight against the back side of the laptop(7). Reinsert the second cord stop, leaving it somewhat near the ends of the shock cord. Now reinsert the computer back into the CradleVue and pull the shock cord back over the top edge of the laptop.
The final step requires the use of either the center console between the two front seats or the inside armrests, depending on how your vehicle is equipped. The upper shock cord will form a circular loop between each of the two cord stops. Wrap this loop around the armrests, or on the underside of the open center console lid(8). You may need to adjust the tension on the shock cord by loosening or tightening the second cord stop. If you are using the center console lid, you can close it once you have adjusted the tension. The shock cord is thin enough to allow for this.
The upper shock cord acts to keep the laptop from swaying and jiggling during travel, and also adjusts the viewing angle for the display screen.
You have the option of doing the same thing with the shock cord that is attached to the lower strap. It also aids in viewing angle adjustment and eliminating swaying.
Be sure to carefully loosen the shock cord when you are finished using your CradleVue.
That's all there is to it. Enjoy the road and enjoy your CradleVue(9)!
